After the issuance and receipt of Almeida's New Jersey permit to carry yesterday, we anticipated a Motion to Dismiss to be filed today. Given the steps that Governor Christie went through to relax the permitting standards in New Jersey (which failed), it is surprising to see the Attorney General of New Jersey push so hard to dismiss this case. Whatever the reasons, New Jersey remains one of the toughest states for law-abiding citizens to exercise their right to carry a firearm for self-defense. Hopefully we can change that; one plaintiff at a time if need be.
